Our aim
We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We want people to be able to apply whatever they use to browse, including screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control and high zoom.
What the application page does
- Every form field has a visible text label that is programmatically linked to it.
- The platforms question is a grouped set of checkboxes with a group label.
- The page has a skip link and is laid out in header, main and footer landmarks.
- Form errors appear in a message region that a screen reader announces.
- Buttons, links and checkboxes show a visible outline when you reach them with the keyboard.
- The form can be completed from the keyboard alone, and text can be zoomed without losing content.
What is not right yet
- We have not had this site audited in full by a third party, and we have not tested it with people who use assistive technology every day. These checks are our own review of the page, not a certified audit, so there may be problems we have not found.
- The fonts load from an outside service. If they fail to load, your device's own fonts are used, and the layout still works.
Tell us
Cannot use part of this site, or need to apply another way?
Write what you need in the "Anything else?" box on the application form, or reply to the confirmation email we send you after you apply. Tell us what you were trying to do and we will find another way to take your application. We would rather hear about it than not.
